Answers to Multiple Questions #03 about-jinn

Comment:

Asalaamu alaikum.

Are there tribes of jinns? Like my cousin told me when he was at a mosque, a whole tribe of jinns (the jinns said there were only seven of them, but there were actually a hundred) possessed the guy. One spoke Spanish and the other spoke Chinese, some of them speaking Urdu and there was even one from New York?!

The guy who was possessed was Somali. Do jinns have some kind of jinn language? My cousin said he heard some other languages he didn’t know. The Chinese jinn obviously couldn’t communicate with the Spanish one. There was one that spoke English.

I heard when a jinn possesses the mind, the person can use telekinesis and they have super-strength. I also heard that if you throw hot water where the jinn is, it will get angry at you and possess you. Is that true?

Last time my teacher told me that he was sick in the hospital and his son went up to him and said, “Don’t worry, you would be out of the hospital in 21 days.” He was right. This was the Rooh, right?

Jazakallah.

Oh yes, one more question. This isn’t related to the jinn.

I have a picture a flower hung up on my wall and an anatomy poster. I have a bookshelf and some of them have pictures on the cover. Will angels still enter my room?

Answers

Q: Are there tribes of jinns?
A: Yes, tribes are many among jinn. You may refer to the article – Sects Among Jinn

Q: What language do Jinn speak?
A: They speak the language of the land, they might have their own language or way of communication among themselves, but when they speak through the possessed person, they speak the language of the land they belong to originally.

Q: I heard when a jinn possesses the mind, the person can use telekinesis and they have super-strength.
A: Yes, refer to the article Jinn Possession, where Ibn Taimiyya mentions that the possessed might lift objects heavier than himself.

Q: I also heard that if you throw hot water where the jinn is, it will get angry at you and possess you. Is that true?
A: Yes, most of the possessions are the cause of the above. Stated by Ibn Taimiyya in the last section of the above article – Jinn Possession (causes included)

Q: Last time my teacher told me that he was sick in the hospital and his son went up to him and said, “Don’t worry, you would be out of the hospital in 21 days.” He was right. This was the Rooh, right?
A: Rooh, you mean the type of jinn that follows children? It might have been a co-incidence that the child said it consciously. We cannot assume that Jinn know the unknown. This is proven from Solomon’s Death.

Q: I have a picture a flower hung up on my wall and an anatomy poster. I have a bookshelf and some of them have pictures on the cover. Will angels still enter my room?
A: Pictures mean Paintings of Real people, It refers mostly to the Pagan Worshipers/Statue Worshipers. There is no harm in keeping an art that does not have any significance to you. Unless it is a Portrait of a Living Being/Idol. I will refer a story of Aisha (ra), I’m in a hurry right now and I will post that later on Insha’Allah.

I hope Ive answered the Questions, Keep your questions coming.

Jazakallhu! Yes, you’ve answered my questions. I still have a million more left, though. Sorry.

I’d like to know more about the Rooh, the one that follows children. Is it possible that it whispered the vision while the teacher’s child was sleeping?

My friend also claims she has ‘visions’. It was a year ago when she told me about her dream, when we were twelve (is she still considered as a child?). She had a dream that a new principal came to our school and ruined everything. A few weeks later, we discover that we’re getting a new principal. She also claimed she had another vision/dream, she told me about it and aside from the silly dream content (you know, flying pizza and that kind of stuff), it came true.

She believes in superstitions and does palm reading. I’m not sure what her religion is. She believes if every human comes together, we make God (astaghfirullah). She looks up to the stars to determine her destiny. Do the jinn target these kind of people? Mix in visions with her dreams will she sleeps? I don’t want to be her friend if that is so.

I can also tell she doesn’t like Islam. She doesn’t like the hijab and how I can’t draw living beings. She always asks, “What if your religion isn’t true?” My uncle said Shaitan talks through these kind of people. She encourages me to do somethings against Islam. I feel embarrassed just by calling her my friend.

    • Muhammad Ali says:

There is a different perception to such stories.
Jinn CANNOT predict future; but, they CAN steal information. If a jinn heard from a doctor had mentioned that your teacher will recover in 21 days, and a jinn then whispered into his son after listening to the doctor, that is plausible. But we can never say that Jinn have knowledge of the Unseen, but only Allah does.

About Visions/dreams, yes, these are called Demonic visions. Palm reading, horoscopes and predictions from stars are strictly Haraam (forbidden), and are the work of Satan. It is magic,

“Whoever goes to a soothsayer and believes what he says, has disbelieved in the Message sent to Muhammad (pbuh); and his prayers will not be accepted for forty days.”

“And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief.”
      (Surah Al-Jinn: 06)

“O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, Al-Ansab, and Al-Azlam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaitan’s (Satan) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful.” (Al-Ma’ida: 90)

There are many references from our Holy Quran that speak of such people.

About her question – “What if your religion isn’t true?” It requires studying our religion. Take your time to learn about Islam so you can answer her doubts tomorrow. I would like to share a video that would help you in many such cases,

Insha’Allah, my next article will be Jinn & the Knowledge of the Unseen.

EDIT: I wrote the article here, Jinn & Knowledge of the Unseen
